Dimming and non-dimming versions are available for LEDs that differ from incandescent or halogen lamps. This is because dimming is not common when led lights are first discovered. As the electronic devices inside LED lights become more and more advanced, dimming becomes possible, and finally we are here today, but this cost increases. Therefore, non-dimming options are no longer available except for vendors that pursue a minimum retail cost point.
However, this poses a problem. If you do not have a dimming switch installed, will installing a dimmable LED cause any problems?
The answer is not absolute. Dimmable LEDs installed in non-dimming switches will operate at 100% output power and operate like LEDs with led dimmable switch. Of course, there may be a non-dimming option available at a lower cost, but in general, if you plan to keep the LEDs for a long time, it makes sense to choose the dimming option.
How to install a non-dimmable switch to drive dimming LED lights?
If you install a non-dimming LED bulb in a circuit with a dimming switch, it may work properly when the dimmer is 100% or fully turned on. Lightening the lamp may cause unstable behavior such as flickering or squeaking, and may eventually damage the lamp. If you must do this, it is recommended that you keep the led light at full power. All in all, dimmable LED lights are a better investment.
