FAQ: What is the usgae of surge protection in a LED driver?
A surge is a transient overvoltage that exceeds the normal operating voltage.
Surge is usually caused by drastic changes or an increase in power demand. Any type of interference can damage an LED driver to exceeding warranty range. For example, lightning and the power company's daily pull-off and maintenance work will cause destructive surges to the power line of a lighing system.
