Why led strip flash with triac dimmer dimming?

For TRIAC dimming LED strip, the biggest problem presently is the compatibility of the dimmer. Traditional original design of the TRIAC dimmer was to handle the power consumed by hundreds of watts of incandescent bulbs.


TRIAC dimming


Power consumption of LED strip smaller than 20W will interact with dimmers made of high-power switching devices. If the interaction between the triac dimmer and the LED strip is unstable, visible flash will occur.


To prevent led strip flash with triac dimmer dimming, the current flowing through the TRIAC during the turn-on of the TRIAC dimmer after the TRIAC trigger be greater than Ihold (maintain current), otherwise the TRIAC will turn off and the LED strip will go out
